Borussia Moenchengladbach’s Holland striker Luuk de Jong – the most expensive player in the club’s history – is back in training after knee surgery and is hoping to return before the winter break.
“Fortunately, everything is fine with the ligaments, my knee is stable now, I just need to be pain free and it’s getting better every day,” said de Jong, with the Bundesliga to break for winter on Sunday December 16.
“Maybe I’ll be able to play in the last few games before the winter break, but it’s difficult to forecast.”
The 22-year-old cost Gladbach 13 million euros (US$16.6m) from Holland’s FC Twente in June, but needed surgery for a knee injury against Marseille on October 25, forcing Gladbach coach Lucien Favre into changing his system.
