Former “Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps” actress Sheridan Smith cemented her status as a rising star of theatre after claiming the best actress in a play prize at the Whatsonstage.com awards.

Smith, who previously starred in West End hit show “Legally Blonde”, won the accolade Sunday for her “Hedda Gabler” performance at the Old Vic while Rupert Everett won best actor in a play for his portrayal of Oscar Wilde in “The Judas Kiss”.

The awards, presented at a ceremony at London’s Palace Theatre, were voted for by over 60,000 theatre-goers.
