Rubin sign M'Vila from Rennes

Two-time Russian champions Rubin Kazan confirmed on Thursday the signing of French international midfielder Yann M’Vila from Rennes on a four-year contract.

The 22-year-old midfielder, capped 22 times by France, had been linked with English Premier League side Fulham and Queen’s Park Rangers but decided instead to move to Russia.

No financial details of the deal were disclosed.

“I’m very happy to join Rubin,” M’Vila was quoted as saying by the club’s official website.

“I’m very interested in playing in what will be a new league for me. The transfer move to Rubin is challenge and I will do everything I can to show I am worthy of joining the club.”

Rubin manager Kurban Berdyev said he was happy that his squad had been strengthened with the addition of M’Vila.

“I’m very happy that a footballer of such a high class will play in our team,” Berdyev said in an interview with the Rubin site.

“He is young and promising and his arrival will allow our club to move to a new level an capable of getting results both in Russia and in Europe.”
