Domestic Violence Case Against Johnny Manziel Dismissed in Texas

A domestic violence case filed in Texas against former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel has been dismissed, after nearly two years winding its way through the system.

Manziel became the brief object of a helicopter search in January of 2016 when a girlfriend filed charges against him causing Fort Worth, Texas, police to launch a short-lived dragnet for his apprehension.

An investigation and court case were launched that spanned nearly two years until this month when the Dallas District Attorney asked a judge to dismiss the case, TMZ Sports reported. According to the report, the judge signed off on the request.

With this development, “Johnny Football” is finally out from under charges of domestic abuse, leaving him free to continue to plan his marriage to fiancee and social media darling Bre Tiesi.

The former quarterback has not played football professionally since the Cleveland Browns released him in March of 2016. Though, he has been trying to find a spot in the Canadian Football League. Manziel had a workout for a CFL in August.
