PRINCETON, N.J., Nov. 8 (UPI) —
Eighteen percent of Americans who don’t have health insurance have tried to visit a marketplace website, results of a Gallup poll released Friday indicated.
Twenty-two percent of uninsured Americans — the primary target for the exchanges — say they plan to get insurance through the exchanges, the poll found.
Previous Gallup polls have found 44 percent of uninsured Americans who plan to get insurance said they would they will do so through an exchange, and about one in four said they more likely would pay a fine instead of getting insurance.
Overall, about 17 percent of U.S. adults interviewed for the latest poll said they had health coverage, similar to percentages reported during the first three quarters of the year, the Princeton, N.J., polling agency said.
In the latest poll, three in 10 uninsured Americans said they were somewhat or very familiar with the exchanges.
Results are based on nationwide telephone interviews with 854 uninsured adults conducted Oct. 23-Nov. 6. The margin of error is 5 percentage points.
