MCALLEN, Texas – A man from the Mexican border city of Matamoros has been accused of trying to smuggle 100 gallons of liquid methamphetamine hidden inside the gas tank of a truck.

Officers with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) arrested Juan Buentello Garcia at the Los Indios International Bridge after they found the drugs in the gas tank, court records obtained by Breitbart Texas revealed.

Buentello had driven the truck to the cargo area of the bridge when CBP officers referred the vehicle to a secondary inspection area. Authorities had the truck go through a scanning device to look for hidden compartments. While authorities were not able to see anything unusual in the vehicle, a police dog alerted officers to narcotics inside the truck. The agents checked the gas tank and were able to discover that it had 100 gallons of liquid meth inside. Buentello remains in federal custody without bond pending trial.
