Federal authorities have charged a Guatemalan national in connection with the assault of a U.S. Border Patrol agent who received a concussion during the attack.
On Wednesday, a grand jury handed down an indictment charging 20-year-old Jesus Gregorio de Paz with one count of assaulting a federal officer, information provided to Breitbart Texas by the U.S. Attorney’s Office revealed.
The indictment against de Paz alleged that on November 19, he assaulted an agent who tried to arrest him near a railroad car. On the day of the attack, U.S. Border Patrol agents in Uvalde, Texas found two illegal aliens near a rail car that had stopped. One ran away while de Paz charged at the agent and began assaulting him. The agent received a concussion as a result.
De Paz fled the area thereafter but was arrested by other Border Patrol agents near Del Rio.
“Assaults on our agents will not be tolerated,” said Del Rio Senior Acting Chief Patrol Agent Matthew Hudak in a prepared statement. “These types of incidents are a staunch reminder of the dangerous work Border Patrol agents do.”
