CIUDAD ACUNA, Coahuila — Authorities in this border state continue seizing drugs from the Los Zetas cartel as they try to smuggle contraband into Texas.

Recently, members of the Fuerza Coahuila police unit seized more than 30 pounds of marijuana hidden inside of a spare tire.

The seizure took place along the dirt road known as Punta del Barco in this city. Authorities stopped three men who have been identified only by their first names. The suspects are Mario, the driver; Abraham, and Salvador, a U.S. citizen living in Texas.

State authorities had been patrolling rural dirt roads when they spotted a Suzuki Verona from which the three suspects got out and tried to run away. In the trunk of the car, police found a tire that was the wrong size to be used on the vehicle.

During questioning, the suspects confessed that they were headed to a location known as Vega Verde in Del Rio, Texas.

In another seizure, state officers found 10 pounds of methamphetamine hidden inside a car battery. The seizure was made with the help of a K-9 officer. Authorities were able to intercept the pickup driven by a 32-year-old man identified only as Marco Antonio in the Alameda neighborhood.

Editor’s Note: Breitbart Texas traveled to the Mexican States of Tamaulipas, Coahuila and Nuevo León to recruit citizen journalists willing to risk their lives and expose the cartels silencing their communities.  The writers would face certain death at the hands of the various cartels that operate in those areas including the Gulf Cartel and Los Zetas if a pseudonym were not used. Breitbart Texas’ Cartel Chronicles are published in both English and in their original Spanish. This article was written by “J.M. Martinez” from Piedras Negras, Coahuila.
