Kanye West Compares Being Photographed in Public to Rape

Earlier this year, Kanye West went on a rant at the Wireless Festival London 2014 about his experiences dealing with paparazzi which he likened to rape.

West spoke for 20 minutes on stage about his confrontations with paparazzi eventually causing the audience to boo and begin walking out on the performance. While telling the story of a photographer harassing him at the airport, West argued, “Everybody out here likes sex, right,” and added, “But if one of the people doesn’t want to do that, that’s called rape. That’s called a violation.”

Other celebrities have made similar statements in the past. Earlier this year while promoting her movie “A Million Ways to Die in the West,” Academy Award winning actress  Charlize Theron compared the way entertainment media reports on her personal life to being raped. In 2014, Gwyneth Paltrow compared celebrities pain in dealing with unflattering Internet comments to fighting in war. And in 2010, Twilight’s’ Kristen Stewart had to apologizing for her paparazzi rape comparison.
