Major Garrett Responds to Obama Scolding: ‘Clearly it Struck a Nerve’

Wednesday after being scolded by President Barack Obama for asking about the why negotiating for the freedom of four American hostages was not  part of the Iranian nuclear deal, CBS White House correspondent Major Garrett reacted to that response from the president.

Garrett said, “Politics, especially those elected as president, are very adept at creating straw men. Taking something that rhetorically works to their advantage and using it. That’s exactly what the president did.”

He added, “Clearly it struck a nerve. That was my intention … Was it provocative? Yes. Was it intended to be as such? Absolutely.”
