Romney Warns Against ‘Demagogues’ Scapegoating Immigrants and Muslims

On Saturday during the the commencement address at Trine University in Angola, IN, 2012 GOP presidential nominee former Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA) took what appeared to be a jab at likely presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

Romney warned against “demagogues” that scapegoat immigrants and Muslims on the right and bankers and business people on the left.

“We live in tumultuous times,” Romney said. “Demagogues on the right and the left draw upon our darker angels, scapegoating immigrants and Muslims or bankers and business people. Profiteers attempt and endeavor to hook us compulsive addictions. Entertainment media distracts us from things that bring us enduring achievements and happiness. Think carefully about the habits of your life. You deserve to be happy and America deserves your right choices.”
