Sessions: Weakness in Past Immigration Plans Have Been They Give Amnesty First, Enforcement Later

Thursday on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), a supporter of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, attempted to clarify the aim of Trump’s immigration policy proposals.

According to Sessions, prior efforts have offered amnesty first and enforcement of the law later and according to the junior Alabama senator, Trump wants to address that.

“So I think what he is saying is let’s prove – the weakness in so many of the plans that have been offered over the years is that they’ve given amnesty first and promised enforcement in the future. He’s saying, ‘Let’s fix this problem.’ Let’s fix it then we’ll wrestle with people who have been here a long time. I think that is the right approach. I can be supportive of that. But you’ve got to be careful because you have the rule of law.”
