LA Dept of Public Works Produces Racist Anti-Asian Video

Leave it to the Los Angeles Department of Public Works to produce an unbelievably stereotypical and racist video for public consumption. The videos was produced at taxpayer cost, and depicts a white person dressed in geisha makeup and garb, speaking with a horrible Japanese accent.

“The Japanese water park is a beautiful, beautiful site, with blooming, blooming lotus and water lilies,” he says. The video was designed to depict the glories of recycled water. The Department of Public Works funds the LA CityWorks project, which owns Channel 35 in Los Angeles, and makes the videos. Total cost: $48,000 per year.

The city’s spokeswoman has already apologized for the video. “It was an attempt at humor that failed,” she said.
