Congressional Representation: America Still a Christian Country

While some wish to deny that America is a predominantly Christian country, Buzzfeed’s religious map of the House of Representatives suggests otherwise. Of the 435 members of the House, there are 22 Jews, 2 Muslims, 2 Buddhists, 1 Hindu, (Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii) and one atheist (Pete Stark of California.)

The rest of the House is almost completely comprised of those who practice a religion in which Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior. There are 136 Catholics, 66 Baptists, 45 methodists, 35 Anglicans/Episcopalians, 28 Presbyterians, and 10 Mormons, with many other Christian faiths represented.

In the Senate there are 28 Catholics, 13 Presbyterians, 10 Jews, 10 Baptists, 8 Methodists, 7 Mormons, 5 Lutherans, 6 Protestants, 4 Episcopalians, 2 Evangelical Christians, 1 member of the Church of Christ, one member of the Church of God, 1 Congregationalist, 1 Buddhist, and three members who are unaffiliated.
