On August 5, police in Antioch, Tennessee, killed a 51-year-old suspect who allegedly opened fire in a movie theater. The suspect was armed with a hatchet and a gun.

According to The Tennessean, police discovered three wounded persons after the attack–two women who had been “injured by pepper spray” and a man who had been injured by a hatchet blow to the shoulder.

The hatchet wound is reportedly “superficial.”

When the first officer began moving through the projection room he came under gunfire by the suspect and “then backed away out of the theater.” A SWAT Team then confronted the suspect, engaged him in gunfire, killing him.

The attack on the theater took place around 1:13 pm. Metro Nashville police reported the suspect was dead just “minutes after 2 pm.”
