Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly punched a 70-year-old on the New York City Subway in Queens last month.

The New York Post reports that the suspect struck the 70-year-old victim as the Manhattan-bound E train approached the Sutphin Boulevard station in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens at 7 a.m. December 16.

Police say the alleged attacker left the scene without uttering a single word.

Investigators believe the suspect is about 5′ 8” and 25 to 30 years old.

Authorities say they are trying to determine whether the assault was part of the “knockout game” in which an attacker tries to punch a random stranger unconscious.

The “knockout game” started in 2013, when videos surfaced on the Internet of people in major cities across the country randomly sucker-punching strangers with the aim of knocking them unconscious in a single blow.

Breitbart News reported that the game has thrived in areas of the country with strict gun control laws where citizens are less able to defend themselves.

The “game” began in areas of New York and New Jersey but spread to other cities such as Washington, DC, St. Louis, and Pittsburgh as more people viewed the disturbing trend on social media.
