The Supreme Court’s decision to strike down California’s Proposition 8, a move that struck a huge blow for same-sex marriage proponents, is already part of a planned documentary at HBO.
The pay giant is currently producing a film chronicling the “historic” decision regarding the California law, a film that has been in the works for the past five years as the legal team behind the challenge prepared its case.
Michael Lombardo, president of HBO programming, called the decision “the story of a modern-day American revolution.”
The untitled film is set for a 2014 release.

This documentary tells the story of the people behind the case and their journey to secure marriage equality in California, paving the way for marriage equality for all Americans….
“Watching this case unfold has been a master class in the judicial system and in the ongoing movement towards realizing equality in this country,” adds director Ryan White. “We are excited to share that experience with the world.”
