Ben Rhodes: Main Reason Obama Endorsed Candidates Is to Help Former Staffers Get Into Politics

Thursday, Ben Rhodes, a former Obama advisor, discussed on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” former President Barack Obama endorsing 81 Democratic candidates for Congress in the 2018 midterm elections. He acknowledged the main reason he did so was to help his former staffers get into politics.

“I see a lot of people that I worked with. It’s a lot of alumni,” Rhodes said of the list of candidates endorsed by Obama.

He added, “Part of what [Obama] wanted to do was make sure that he encouraged — part of what he wants his legacy to be is that people that worked for him got into politics and run for office. So, that’s the main impetus of this particular list — taking care of the alumni, giving them that push.”
