GOP Sen. Hawley: ‘The FBI Needs to Be Held Accountable’ — ‘We Need to Have Oversight’

In a Thursday appearance on “Fox & Friends,” Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) called for congressional oversight in response to former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe saying members at the FBI and Department of Justice discussed invoking the 25th Amendment to remove President Donald Trump from office and revealing the FBI launched a counterintelligence investigation into the president after he fired former FBI Director James Comey.

“It sounds like to me the FBI didn’t want any oversight, the FBI didn’t want to be held accountable. And when the president and others tried to do so, they retaliated against him,” Hawley stated.

“I want to know,” he continued. “I want to hear from the FBI, I want to know who launched this counterintelligence investigation, I want to know why, I want to know who oversaw it, I want to know who was involved with it and I want to know now.”

Hawley said there needs to be oversight and he is willing “to take whatever steps are necessary to get those answers.”
