Meghan Panu’s wayward home was found in House Springs, Missouri, just 30 miles away from where it was stolen on Friday.
Panu told NBC affiliate KDSK that her home was stolen while parked in a local building supply store’s parking lot for the night. She found out from the store owner himself. “He asked if I had moved the tiny house overnight and when I said no, he had the unfortunate news that they hadn’t, and it was likely taken,” she said.
Today, House Springs Sheriff Dave Marshak tweeted that “detectives located this TinyHouse in House Springs, Mo. this morning, and are working to locate the owner.” Less than an hour later, he had more good news: “Ives Towing in Hillsboro is giving the owner an early Christmas Present,” he wrote. “There will be no charge for the towing/Recovery.”
Authorities have yet to identify the perpetrator, but Panu seems happy enough that she is no longer homeless. She announced the resolution with an effusive “TINY HOUSE FOUND” on Facebook.
