Hollywood Sticking with ObamaCare Shilling – For Now

Hollywood just can’t quit ObamaCare.

A new Politico report says despite the legislation’s disastrous web site, the gaggle of jokes about it across the media landscape and the shattered promises that are now the hallmark of President Barack Obama’s “signature” legislation, Hollywood still plans to support the law.

The words left unsaid in the report–for now.

Nevertheless, organizers of the celebrity promotional effort say nothing has changed: They always planned to push enrollment in waves, and they say the enthusiasm is still there to engage the critical group of young people to get covered.

The chairman of the White House’s Entertainment Advisory Council, Eric Ortner, said the plan was to come back in November after the initial activity around the launch, and the only change is that they now plan to make that wave an “open-for-business” theme.

Even Funny or Die, which rolled out an unintentionally funny video last month highlighting the ease of the new ObamaCare system, plans to stay the course.

Could a few more weeks of embarrassing headlines change matters? Actors, while often willing to risk alienating a swath of the country by airing aggressive political views, must realize that audience members who have their health care plans cancelled may not be so eager to see them shilling for ObamaCare.

Besides, the entertainment elite appear eager to move on to the next major election cycle and the chance to shatter the proverbial glass ceiling by anointing former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as the next president.

Politico is running a quick tally on stars throwing their support Clinton’s way. It’s almost as if the candidate they foisted upon the country five-plus years ago had kept at least some of his promises and their political acumen could be trusted.
