Now streaming on Netflix, the documentary Hot Girls Wanted takes an in-depth look at how the amateur porn industry takes advantage of a never-ending line of young girls, by promising to make their dreams come true.

“This can’t be good for you to have sex that much, with that many different people. Ugh, so weird. But that’s my job,” a young starlet says in the film.

Another scene shows a young woman performing forced oral sex until she vomits for a fetish video, and then being made to lick up the vomit.

Produced by Rashida Jones of The Office, the documentary gives viewers a rare glimpse into the mindset of upcoming adult film stars, and a booming industry that offers them, at best, one year before replacing them with new talent.

“Every day, a new girl turns 18,” a 23-year-old talent agent named Riley says of the 18-to-21-year-old “teenyboppers” who answer his modeling ads on Craigslist.

“Best-case scenario, a year, tops,” another man says he says of their “shelf life.”

While amateur pornography is produced in the same manner as the professional brand, according to TheWrap, amateur videos are shot to appear as though the girl next door produced them, generally after leaving high school.

Once in the industry a short time, the girls lose their amateur status, and are cast aside for raw talent.

Riley says the girls are often aware of the “the trap,” but says “the money there in their face, right now, cash, they take it.”

“You’re trying to be famous, so you do what you gotta do,” says one of the girls with big dreams of cash and fame.

Since debuting at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, Hot Girls Wanted has received generally favorable reviews, and has been available on Netflix since Friday.
