Liberal documentary filmmaker Michael Moore’s surprise documentary Michael Moore in TrumpLand, about Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, has been panned by the New York Times as “an earnest but not very entertaining pro-Clinton campaign film.”

Times writer Neil Genzlinger writes that Moore’s latest offering will leave you “disappointed” if you were “expecting a rollicking, full-force attack on Donald J. Trump.”

“Mr. Moore has basically made an earnest but not very entertaining pro-Clinton campaign film,” Gunslinger writes,” adding that the film is “occasionally funny” and “momentarily heartfelt when he takes up the subject of universal health care and the lives lost for lack of it.”

Making its debut on Tuesday night at New York City’s IFC Center, TrumpLand was filmed in two days and is based on Moore’s one-man show about the election, performed earlier this month at a small theater in a heavily Republican corner of Ohio.

As Breitbart News reported Tuesday, Moore’s latest documentary is also set to screen in Los Angeles and will be released on iTunes on Wednesday.

Moore has at times been a fierce critic of Trump, though he has occasionally lauded the candidate’s efficacy on the campaign trail.

Earlier this month in an appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press, Moore said angry voters see Trump as “their human Molotov cocktail, that they get to go into the voting booth on November 8th and throw him into a political system that has made their lives miserable.”

And after the presidential debate last month, Moore declared Trump the winner. The filmmaker has repeatedly predicted that Trump will win the election in November.

In August, Moore wrote an open letter to Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka begging her to stage an “intervention” with her father and demanding that she ask him to drop out of the 2016 White House race.

Michael Moore in TrumpLand is set to screen at the IFC Center in New York and at the Laemmle Town Center 5 in Encino, California through the week.
