A porn star from Lebanon has received death threats after wearing a hijab in an adult film.

Mia Khalifa, who was born in Beirut, Lebanon, is featured in the video with another porn actress and a male co star on whom she performs a sex act whilst wearing a headscarf, the Metro reports.

But since the video has been uploaded to an adult website which allows viewers to stream clips for free, the 21 year old has received death threats and called ‘The world’s most hated Arab’.

Miss Khalifa has lived in America since she was 11-years-old, but because of her country of birth she has been the subject of abuse on social media by people who say she has insulted Islam by wearing the garment in a porn film.

She responded to the attacks, saying the scenes were meant to be ‘satirical’.

‘There are Hollywood movies that depict Muslims in a much worse manner than any scene Bang Bros [the production company] could produce.’

One twitter user told her she would ‘burn in hellfire’ and another even photoshopped her head onto a body in an orange jumpsuit in a tasteless mock up of a beheading video.

The post appeared alongside the caption ‘coming soon’ and a threat that her head ‘will be cut’.

Despite her forthright responses on twitter and appearances on media outlets defending her career choice, she said she is upset at the impact this has had on her parents.

The porn actress has tattoos which include lines from the Lebanese national anthem and the Lebanese Forces Cross which she says were to ‘show solidarity with my father’s political views after a bombing in Lebanon in 2012.

But her parents have now stopped speaking to her following the backlash against her videos.

‘I’ve dragged their name through the mud. I feel guilty for dragging them into this and having all their friends know now that it’s on Lebanese media. But that was never my intention,’ she said.

Her twitter account shows the huge range of opinions the video has stirred, with one user telling anyone who is a ‘fan’ of Miss Khalifa to ‘unfollow’ her ‘because she shot a porno with a hijab’.

But others have supported her decision and pointed out that other religions have been referred to in porn films and others even posted statistics showing that the biggest audience for pornography was in Arab countries.
