Historian David Starkey has come out fighting after the mainstream media’s confected outrage over his comparison of the Scottish National Party and the Nazi Party of Germany.
Despite having originally made the comments in 2012, Starkey faced questions on Sky News today over his repetition of the comparison. He’s not known to back down, and nor did he, stating: “We have this awful, idiotic, PC-politics… [the SNP] models itself on the continental, extreme nationalist movements of the 1930s”.
“[The SNP] talk about ‘civic nationalism’. The word ‘civic’ is merely a fig leaf. Or perhaps bearing in mind that it is Scotland… a jock strap.”
