Feminist Germaine Greer Accuses Bruce ‘Caitlyn’ Jenner Of ‘Wanting To Steal The Limelight’ From Kardashian Girls

Revered feminist author Germaine Greer has insisted that Bruce “Caitlyn” Jenner only changed sex so he could bathe in the same limelight as his Kardashian daughters. Left-wing Greer hit out at the U.S. Olympian turned reality star after Mr. Jenner was rumoured to be under consideration to be crowned Glamour’s Woman of the Year.

Germaine Greer accused the Glamour of ‘misogyny’ and said a transgender person should never be considered a better woman than someone born female. The lefty hero then alleged Jenner only ever wanted to be a woman so that he could revel in the attention before claiming his own right to speak on the matter of transgenderism.

Speaking on the BBC’s Newsnight programme, Ms. Greer said: “It seems to me that what was going on there was that he/she wanted the limelight that the other, female, members of the family were enjoying and has conquered it, just like that.”

Referring to the Woman of the Year award, she then added: “I think misogyny plays a really big part in all of this, that a man who goes to these lengths to become a woman will be a better woman than someone who is just born a woman.”

Greer, author of The Female Eunuch, her 1970s take on women’s sexuality, has sparked similar controversies in the past with comments regarding transsexuals.

As Breitbart London has reported, students at Cardiff University in Wales launched an online petition to prevent her giving a speech at a Women & Power: The Lessons of the 20th Century lecture next month.

The petition, which was started on Change.org by Rachael Melhuish, women’s officer at Cardiff University students’ union, alleged Greer has ‘demonstrated misogynistic views towards trans women, including continually misgendering trans women and denying the existence of transphobia altogether’.

It adds: ‘[H]osting a speaker with such problematic and hateful views towards marginalised and vulnerable groups is dangerous. Allowing Greer a platform endorses her views, and by extension, the transmisogyny, which she continues to perpetuate.’

More than 1500 people have already added their signatures.

Greer staunchly defended her own opinions against that specific attack, telling the BBC she is “not about to walk on eggshells” in the face of criticism from Cardiff University.

“Apparently people have decided that because I don’t think that post-operative transgender men are women, I’m not to be allowed to talk,” she said.

“I’m not saying that people should not be allowed to go through that procedure, what I’m saying is it doesn’t make them a woman. It happens to be an opinion, it’s not a prohibition.”

When asked whether she will still deliver the lecture, Greer appeared pessimistic.

“I’m getting a bit old for all this. I’m 76. I don’t want to go down there and be screamed at and have things thrown at me,” she told BBC News.

“Bugger it. It’s not that interesting or rewarding.”
