NEW YORK CITY — Here at Clinton Election headquarters in New York City, the campaign sent Katy Perry on stage to rally supporters.

The early energy was quickly sucked out of the room as CNN and MSNBC election returns shows Donald Trump doing much better than expected.

Even though it was 10:00 p.m.,Perry urged voters who were watching to get out and vote in states where the polls were still open.

She admitted that her parents voted for Trump, but that she still believed that Clinton would win.

Perry urged her supporters to sing a song of unity, but after she left the stage, the campaign played her song “Roar” – but quickly followed by Rachel Platten’s divisive anthem “Fight Song” instead.

As NBC News projected a win for Trump in Ohio, the crowd was silent.
