Crash Victim Allegedly Steals Good Samaritan’s Car, Leads High Speed Chase with Police

A crash victim became an alleged car thief when a woman stopped Monday eveninMarig to offer help to a man stranded after he crashed his car.

The Good Samaritan told police that the man jumped in her car and drove away after she stopped to help him in West Marin, California.

Police reportedly discovered the man in the stolen vehicle within hours, leading to a high-speed chase, according to the Marin Independent Journal. Attempting to evade capture, the alleged victim turned carjacker lost control and crashed the Good Samaritan’s car into a street sign, cement fixture, and parked car before taking off into the surrounding neighborhood.

Not relenting, Marin Sheriff’s deputies and officers from four police departments chased down the suspect. An assisting police dog served instrumental in tracking down and apprehending the individual.

Reports indicate the first car crashed may have been stolen, and conflicting reports indicate a second suspect may have been present in one of the cars.
