Report: Israeli Convert to Islam Arrested for Attempting to Join Islamic State in Syria

The Jerusalem Post reports: Israeli security forces have arrested an Israeli citizen on suspicion of attempting to join the Islamic State terror group in Syria, the Shin Bet (Israeli Security Agency) announced on Wednesday.

Valentine Vladimir Mazlovsky, 39, from the northern Israeli-Arab town of Shibli was arrested in early February after security officials obtained intelligence information that he was planning to travel to Syria, according to the Shin Bet.

Mazlovsky immigrated to Israel from Belarus in 1996 and later converted to Islam in 2000. During his mandatory military service in the IDF, Mazlovsky met his wife, from the town of Shibli, with whom he has five children
