White House Apologizes for Egypt Apology

Faced with increasing criticism over an apology issued by the U.S. Embassy in Egypt for the alleged “abuse” of free speech by Americans critical of Islam–even as Islamist radicals raided the building on the 11th anniversary of 9/11–the Obama administration has disavowed any such apology this evening, according to Politico:

“The statement by Embassy Cairo was not cleared by Washington and does not reflect the views of the United States government,” a senior administration official told POLITICO.

However, as noted by Breitbart News earlier today, restricting free speech critical of religion has been a key part of the Obama administration’s foreign policy since 2009, when it co-sponsored a resolution to that effect, together with the Egyptian regime, at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland.

In another apologetic gesture, President Barack Obama released a video today–also on the anniversary of 9/11 praising the Arab Spring and the Emir of Qatar, whom Obama insulted last year. The Obama administration has sent Attorney General Eric Holder to Qatar a conference on recovering assets stolen by former Arab regimes.
