GARLAND, Texas – Pamela Geller was conducting an exclusive interview with Breitbart Texas about the Mohammad Art Exhibit and Contest just as gunfire erupted outside the event. Her security detail came in and interrupted the interview and quickly extricated her from the scene.

“This was a room of freedom lovers, brave Americans, who knew it was risky,” Geller said seconds before security grabbed her and took her away to safety. “They took a stand for freedom because they know its scary out there.”

“We’ve got to go,” a police officer told Geller. “Come on, we’ve got to stop this right now. Come on, let’s go.”

In the background, police can be heard saying, “shots fired, we’ve got shots fired.”

Geller was immediately taken out of the room by a team of about five or six officers. She was taken to a waiting vehicle and whisked away from the scene.

Towards the end of the video, police can be heard ordering people back into the room where occupants were briefly locked down until a more secure location was found.

Shortly after that, Breitbart Texas learned that there was “an officer down” and that the two suspects were down. The officer, it turned out later, was a Garland Independent School District security guard who was shot in the ankle. He was identified by police as Bruce Joiner.

The security guard was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

Breitbart Texas learned a short time later that the two suspects were killed by police.

Officers told this writer that the two suspects drove up in a car. The two occupants of the vehicle got out and immediately began shooting at the security guard.

Witnesses who spoke with this writer said they heard the initial gunshots and said it sounded like a pack of firecrackers going off. They then heard police return fire on the suspects.

The suspects were left lying in the street next to their vehicle because police were concerned there might be some type of explosive device either on their bodies or in their car.

Attendees of the event were eventually taken by a school bus to a secure location about 5 miles away from the scene.
