Washington (AFP) – President Donald Trump said Friday he is nominating Kelly Knight Craft, his envoy to Canada, to be the next US ambassador to the United Nations and succeed Nikki Haley.
“Kelly has done an outstanding job representing our Nation and I have no doubt that, under her leadership, our Country will be represented at the highest level,” Trump said in a pair of tweets announcing his pick.
Knight Craft was nominated one week after Trump’s previous choice, former Fox News anchor and State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert, withdrew from consideration amid criticism that she lacked the gravitas for one of the top diplomatic posts.
