Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of Bill and Hillary Clinton, signaled that she may run for public office, saying she is now trying to purposely live a more public life.

“I’m grateful to live in a city and a state and a country where I really believe in my elected officials, and their ethos and their competencies,” Clinton said when asked if she would run for office by CNN. “Someday, if either of those weren’t true, and I thought I could make more of a difference in the public sector, or if I didn’t like how my city or state or country were being run, I’d have to ask and answer that question.”

She continued, “I really felt like I could make a difference and then I should make a difference. And I had very much led a deliberately private life for a long time, and now I’m attempting to lead a purposely public life.”

Clinton is married to Mark Mezvinsky, the son of former Rep. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky (D-PA), who is attempting a political comeback by running for Congress again. Margolies-Mezvinsky was the deciding vote for Clinton’s 1993 budget, and she was ousted from her seat the next year after casting that vote.
