GOP Senators Push Repeal of Gun Control and Elimination of Certain 'Gun Free Zones'

The Senate is preparing to take up gun control again–but this time it is with Republicans pushing to repeal or limit various gun control statutes already on the books.

According to The Washington Post:

Republicans want to overturn the ban on large-capacity magazines and assault weapons in the District of Columbia; expand the right to purchase or transport firearms and ammunition across state lines; limit when a military veteran can be denied a firearm due to mental illness; and allow gun owners to carry weapons into post offices or other federal sites.

If successful, the push to “allow gun owners to carry weapons in post offices or other federal sites” would do away with “gun free zones” in these areas–the very zones that turn law-abiding citizens into sitting ducks.

The Republican proposals to repeal gun control laws will be offered as amendments to the Bipartisan Sportsmen Act.
