A plurality of Americans do not believe that Hillary Clinton is honest and a majority think it was not appropriate for her to use a private email account while she was Secretary of State, according to a new CBS News poll.

As more details about Clinton’s private email scandal come to light, Clinton’s favorability ratings are plummeting. The poll found that just “26 percent of Americans now have a favorable view of Hillary Clinton,” which is “12 points lower than they were in the fall of 2013,” while 37 percent view her unfavorably.”

Clinton received “her most negative marks on honesty.” A plurality of Americans (47%) do not think Clinton is “honest and trustworthy” while 42% believe that she is.

In addition, 62% of Americans do not think it was appropriate for Clinton to use a personal email account while she was Secretary of State while just 25% of Americans believe that it was.

The CBS poll, which was conducted March 21-24 and has a margin of error of +/- three percentage points, also found that “80 percent of Republicans and 64 percent independents do not think her actions were appropriate.” A slim plurality of Democrats (44% to 43%) also agree.

A recent CNN/ORC poll also “found that a majority of Americans believe Clinton ‘did something wrong’ by using a private email account while she was Secretary of State.”
