On July 15, a customer retrieved a gun from his car after witnessing the alleged robbery of a New Orleans gas station, chased down the robber, and opened fire.

The incident occurred around 5 a.m. at a “Shell station located near the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Downman Road.”

According Fox 8, the suspect entered the store and demanded money from the clerk. The owner of the gas station says a customer who witnessed the alleged crime ran outside and “[got] a gun out of his truck.” The customer then cornered the suspect beside the store and ordered him to get on the ground.

The suspect refused, opening fire instead, so the armed customer shot him.

The alleged robber was taken to the hospital, where his condition is unknown. He will face charges upon being released.
