Tuesday on Newsmax TV’s “The Steve Malzberg Show,” investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson corrected the record after Republican presidential candidate and billionaire business mogul Donald Trump used her as a defense for his controversial comments about the military service of Vietnam War POW, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ).
Trump had been using an article Attkisson wrote criticizing The Washington Post for misquoting Trump, but as she explained, “I didn’t, as Trump said, say in a general sense that he did nothing wrong and so on. I didn’t analyze what he should have said and all of that meaning. I looked at a Washington Post article and in the first sentence it said Trump claims that McCain is not a war hero because he was captured. In fact Trump said McCain is a war hero because he was captured. My issue with that is—you may say either one is an insult—one is maybe not better than the other, but it’s simply incorrect to say he said he is not a war a hero because he was captured.”
