Ambassador John Bolton is endorsing three congressional candidates including Senator John McCain, who’s facing a primary challenge in Arizona.

“John’s military background makes him the right leader to represent Arizona in the U.S. Senate. I believe John will keep working diligently to improve the readiness and training of our U.S. Armed Forces,” read a release provide to Breitbart News just ahead of the announcement.

“The John Bolton PAC has donated $5,000 to the campaigns of Senators John McCain (AZ), Mark Kirk (IL), and Representative Joe Heck (NV-‐3). These contributions are to make sure each candidate has the support they need for reelection to Congress, while pushing for strong national security policies that will protect Americans,” Bolton says in a news release.

McCain and Bolton have an extensive history. A spokesperson for the John Bolton PAC told Breitbart News:

Senator McCain is stand alone the most qualified and the best candidate to represent Arizona in the U.S. Senate particularly on U.S. foreign policy and national security measures. Endorsing this early ensures that Ambassador Bolton’s endorsement and contribution has influence in competitive races. McCain has been leading the drumbeat in Congress and the Ambassador hopes that he will continue to do so into the next Presidential administration.

McCain challenger Dr. Kelli Ward expressed great appreciation for McCain’s military service at her campaign announcement in July. She then went on to note her experience as a military wife and her belief that, “like many career politicians, John McCain has dug in, he’s entrenched himself in the beltway” and emphasizing the need to take care of military veterans.
