Watch: Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick Mock Trump Supporters in ‘The Producers’ Parody

Actors Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane reprised their roles in The Producers in a mock musical attacking Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and his supporters on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Sunday after the Oscars.

The pair appeared in a satirical trailer for Trumped as political consultants Leo Bloom and Max Bialystock, who hatch a plan to find a “grade A, world class, gold-plated nincompoop” to run for president. The pair schemes to raise millions of dollars for their “nutcase” candidate, and then keep the money for themselves once his candidacy implodes.

After watching clips from Trump speeches and interviews, Bialystock and Bloom conclude the New York billionaire is their guy; however, they quickly encounter a major setback: they “picked the wrong fool.”

Statements made by Trump that would arguably damn traditional campaigns instead bolster his support and Trump begins winning, as the whole world goes “stark raving mad.”

“I can’t believe this, it’s not possible,” the pair says after raising $25 million, only to find that Trump is leading his rivals in the race to the White House.

A voice over artist in the bit describes Trump supporters as “looney birds” and “numbskulls,” and also mocks high-profile Trump endorser former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as a “wackadoodle.”

Jimmy Kimmel and his sidekick Guillermo also star in the mock trailer, which is billed as the movie that will “make America great again.”

A fake report by industry outlet Variety also concludes the story “starts out funny” but “gets really, really depressing.”

The comedy sketch is released as a new CNN national poll shows Trump is now leading his rivals in the Republican primary with 49 percent support.

A CNN poll released Monday shows Trump 33 and 34 points ahead of his closest rivals, Sen Marco Rubio and Sen. Ted Cruz.

Rubio and Cruz are pulling 16 and 15 percent support, respectively.
