Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz is responding to the massive terror attacks in Brussels, Belgium.

Our hearts break for the men and women of Brussels this morning. Make no mistake — these terror attacks are no isolated incidents. They are just the latest in a string of coordinated attacks by radical Islamic terrorists perpetrated by those who are waging war against all who do not accept their extreme strain of Islam. Radical Islam is at war with us. For over seven years we have had a president who refuses to acknowledge this reality. And the truth is, we can never hope to defeat this evil so long as we refuse to even name it. That ends on January 20, 2017, when I am sworn in as president. We will name our enemy — radical Islamic terrorism. And we will defeat it.

Cruz has been beating the drum on the campaign trail that the White House refuses to use the phrase radical Islamic terror. He mentioned that issue again during a press conference on Sunday, during which he addressed President Obama’s trip to the communist island of Cuba. Cruz scheduled a press conference Tuesday morning about 30 minutes ahead of President Obama’s scheduled appearance in Havana, Cuba.

Reports indicate that at least 34 people have been killed and more than 100 injured in the Tuesday morning terror attacks that struck the Brussels airport and a metro station.

Following the terror attacks in Paris, France last November Cruz offered condolences, then called for America to “stand with our allies against the scourge of radical Islamic terrorism.”

Republican presidential candidates Cruz, Donald Trump and Ohio Gov. John Kasich have been looking at more primary contests on Tuesday in Arizona, Utah and American Samoa.
