Joe Biden to Gun Grabbers: Keep Fighting to Ban ‘Civilian Ownership’ of AR-15s

Vice President Joe Biden released a video Monday urging gun grabbers to keep fighting for a ban on “civilian ownership” of AR-15s, regardless of the Senate vote on gun control.

Hours later, gun control was voted down in the Senate, but Biden wants the focus on AR-15s to remain.

Biden said:

After every mass shooting, we’ve waged a campaign after campaign to turn grief into action. Each time, each time thinking maybe, just maybe, this will be the time that breaks through. This will be the one that gets through the Congress, which ultimately has to act. We’ve used phrases like, “Now’s the time,” “Stop gun violence,” and “Enough is enough.” Well, folks, enough is enough; you know that.

He went on to talk about the WhiteHouse.gov petition that was launched the day after the Orlando terror attack. The focus of the petition is a ban on “civilian ownership” of AR-15 rifles. He pointed out that “nearly 200,000 people signed” the petition in three days. While 200,000 signatories sounds like a lot, the U.S. population is nearly 320,000,000.

Biden asked supporters of the ban to continue to press Congress for gun control, saying, “On Monday and beyond, make yourselves impossible to ignore. You know that by stepping up, your action has the potential to create a domino effect.”
