New Black Panthers Plan Armed Protests Outside GOP Convention Site

The New Black Panthers plan to conduct armed protests outside the Republican convention site if open carry is legal in the area in which the protests are held.

Ohio is an open carry state, but there are bans on carrying in certain areas–police buildings, courthouses, school zones, etc.–and private businesses and property owners have the prerogative of banning guns in their buildings and on their premises, period.

But the Daily Mail reports that the Panthers plan to be armed if possible. Panther’s chairman Hashim Nzinga said:

If it is an open state to carry, we will exercise our second amendment rights because there are other groups threatening to be there that are threatening to do harm to us. If that state allows us to bear arms, the Panthers and the others who can legally bear arms will bear arms.

Nzinga made clear that that the Panthers plan to arrive this Thursday and depart on Sunday. He said their main goal is “‘to protect (the black unity) event” that begins Thursday. “We are not trying to do anything else,” he said.

In March Breitbart News reported on a fraudulent petition to allow guns in the Quicken Loans Arena–the actual site of the GOP convention. The petition was launched by a blogger and Hillary Clinton supporter named James P. Ryan.
