Rep. Louie Gohmert: ‘It’s Time to Elect a Righteous Man, Let’s Send Roy Moore to Washington’

Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, talks to reporters on Capitol Hill in Washington, Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, following a closed-door meeting with House Republicans to counter President Barack Obama's executive actions on immigration. The plan emerging Friday satisfies demands from the most conservative lawmakers and goes further than the approach initially …

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) declared at a rally in Alabama for Judge Roy Moore on Monday night, “It’s time to stop the fraud. It’s time to elect a righteous man. Let’s send Roy Moore to Washington.”

Congressman  Gohmert argued that both he and Judge Roy Moore have pursued justice for the benefit of the American people.

“Roy Moore and I have spent so much in pursuit of justice … not just us,” Gohmert argued.

Congressman Gohmert chided attorney Gloria Allred, whose crediblility continues to fade as the yearbook she and Moore accuser Beverly Nelson used as proof of Moore’s misconduct was revealed to be a forgery.

Gohmert asked the crowd, “This is what they purported the signature to be true and one part they knew was a forgery. What does that make that person?”

The Alabamaians responded in unison, “A liar!”

Gohmert then explained that given any situation with money and power at stake, one must look at who might benefit from the accusation to fully understand the accusation.

Gohmert charged, “Anytime there’s money and power involved, you got to look at who’s benefitting.”

“You can’t in four weeks get to the bottom of something,” Gohmert added.

The Texas congressman then said, “If someone got money for trying to destroy a righteous man, there’s a place called prison.”

The Texas congressman continued, arguing that if the political establishment can take down Roy Moore for unsubstantiated claims of sexual misconduct, then they can take down any challenger.

Gohmert told the Alabama crowd, “If they are successful in taking down a righteous, good man like Roy Moore, then nobody is safe no matter clean, how righteous – you can be taken down by these people. Let’s stand firm.”

Gohmert lambasted the Washington Post and mainstream media, saying, “I’m sick of these people coming down from the Washington Post, or California, or the mainstream media.”

Congressman Gohmert then said, “We’re going to have a fun time with Senator Roy Moore.”

Gohmert concluded, “It’s time to stop the fraud. It’s time to elect a righteous man – let’s send Roy Moore to Washington.”
