Weird Developments With Special Prosecutors of Texas AG

The prosecution of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has taken some weird turns this past week. A court of appeals ordered payments to the special prosecutors stopped, and in an unrelated criminal case, a federal judge removed one of the prosecutors from representing his client, a member of the Bandidos Motorcycle Club, because he had a conflict of interest.

County Flip-Flops Over Paying Legal Fees in Prosecuting Texas AG

It seems that some county officials in Collin County, Texas, knowingly, or inadvertently, have taken inconsistent positions over the power of the judiciary to interfere with their governing powers. They took one position in May in a brief to the Texas Supreme Court, but some of them are now taking the opposite position when making a decision about paying what could end up being over a million dollars for prosecuting the Texas Attorney General.

Texas AG Pleads Not Guilty, Attorney Withdraws

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton stood before Judge George Gallagher in a state district court in Tarrant County and the AG pleaded not guilty to the criminal charges leveled against him. Moments later, Paxton’s criminal defense attorney, Joe Kendall, filed a motion to withdraw from representing Paxton in the proceedings.
