Poll: Majority of Americans Still Support Refugee Halt

The majority of Americans continue to support President Donald Trump’s executive order to halt all refugee resettlement into the U.S. for at least 120 days, a new poll finds.

Some 52 percent of likely voters in a new Rasmussen Reports national poll say they support Trump’s ban that keeps refugees from all countries from entering the U.S. for at least the next four months until a better vetting system to weed out potential Islamic terrorists is put in place.

A minority of 43 percent of likely U.S. voters said they were opposed to Trump’s executive order.

The poll comes after a slew of other surveys showed similar results, where a majority of Americans supported Trump’s temporary refugee halt.

Days ago, Reuters released a poll that showed 48 percent of Americans supported temporarily banning refugees from countries which export terrorism, as Breitbart News reported. Only 41 percent opposed the executive order.

Likewise, an earlier Rasmussen Reports poll found that “57 percent of Likely U.S. Voters favor a temporary ban on refugees from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen until the federal government approves its ability to screen out potential terrorists form coming here,” as Breitbart News reported.

In that poll, only 33 percent of Americans were opposed to the refugee halt, while 10 percent were undecided. Some 56 percent wanted to see visa-holders from terrorist-sanctioned countries blocked from entering the U.S. as well.

Trump’s immigration orders have not only included temporarily halting all refugee resettlement, but also the building of a Southern border wall, as well as the prioritization of deporting criminal illegal immigrants.
