Trump: Burkas Easier for Women, They ‘Don’t Have to Put on Makeup’

Monday in Atkinson, NH, at a town hall, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Muslim women required to cover their faces in traditional burkas have it easier because they “don’t have to put on makeup.”

“They don’t want freedom. It’s like I saw somebody—I won’t even say because it’s embarrassing—saying, ‘We want it where the woman over there don’t have to wear the you know what,'” Trump said while waving his hand across his face. “Then I said ‘oh well that makes sense, that’s nice.’ Then I saw women interviewed. They said we want to wear them. We have worn them for thousands of years. Why would anybody tell us not to? They want to. What the hell are we getting involved for? In fact it’s easier. You don’t have to put on makeup, look how beautiful everyone looks. Wouldn’t it be easier?”
