RNC Chair McDaniel Calls on Democrats to Work with GOP on ‘Border Crisis’

In an appearance on Fox Business Network’s “Varney & Co.” on Thursday, Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel called on congressional Democrats to cross the aisle and work with their Republican colleagues in Congress and the White House to solve the “border crisis.”

McDaniel noted how Democrats had once supported “reasonable measures” regarding the border but were reluctant to do so now.

“The president is not bluffing,” she said. “It will be Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi who shut the government down. We have a border crisis. We know that border crossings are up 90 percent over the same time a year ago. We know that unaccompanied minors are up 44 percent. We know the walls work in San Diego, in Tucson, in Yuma, in El Paso. Border crossings were down 90 percent from illegals. This is something that we need for our country. Democrats voted for it in 2013 — 54 Democrats voted for all these reasonable measures. Why aren’t they coming to the table now? The president is saying, ‘We’re going to get this job done. Come to the table and fix this with me.'”
