Dr. Ben Carson has accepted a position in President-elect Donald Trump’s administration as the secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Carson’s spokesman Armstrong Williams confirmed that the famous surgeon and former presidential candidate will accept the position after Trump offered it to him.

A more formal announcement from Donald Trump is expected later today.

Last week, his spokesman suggested that Carson was not interested in serving in Trump’s administration.

“Dr. Carson feels he has no government experience, he’s never run a federal agency. The last thing he would want to do was take a position that could cripple the presidency,” Williams said in an interview with The Hill on November 15.

Yesterday, Trump previewed the announcement on Twitter.
