From the time that the House Oversight Committee’s investigation into Fast & Furious really gained the public eye in December 2011, via the Holder Hearings, accusations that the focus on the Attorney General were politically motivated have been legion. Even members of the House Oversight Committee, like Congressmen John Conyers (D-MI), Elijah Cummings (D-MD), and Bobby Scott (D-VA), have made this charge in one way or another.
Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA) has faced endless vitriol for his so-called political witch-hunt, and this only gotten worse after the House Oversight Committee voted to hold the A.G. in contempt last week. Naysayers said the fact the committee vote was along party lines proved that the focus on Holder was political—or even worse, that it was based on “racism.”
Well, that was then and this is now. And now, prominent House Democrat Steny Hoyer is telling Democrat constituents around the country to get ready, because there will be “defections” in the Democrat Party.
In other words, Issa and the rest of the racist, politically-driven Republicans will be joined by an untold number of Democrats in voting for Contempt of Congress against Holder tomorrow.
Hoyer says he doesn’t know how many defections there will be. Only that he’s certain a percentage of Democrats will support the contempt charges against Holder.
