Pawlenty Website Removed for Revamp Amid Rampant VP Speculation

Tim Pawlenty’s website, TimPawlenty.com, is apparently undergoing some major changes. As of three weeks ago, it was reported that the site had taken down all of its content, replaced by a single line reading: “Please come back later.”

Speculation is now running rampant that the website shift means that Pawlenty will be chosen as Mitt Romney’s 2012 running mate. That would assume that Romney made his decision some weeks ago, and that speculation about Condoleeza Rice and General David Petraeus, among others, has been misdirection. It’s obviously unnecessary for Pawlenty to take his site offline in order to revamp it for a VP run.

Pawlenty has already stated that the website was removed because he didn’t have a campaign or a PAC, but the timing is suspicious. He is currently campaigning through Michigan, talking to supporters. “As to the vice presidential thing, we’ll know soon enough,” Pawlenty said. This weekend, Pawlenty is headed to New Hampshire; he’s flying into Boston, Romney’s headquarters, rather than into New Hampshire directly. And said Pawlenty about the possibility of meeting Romney’s VP selection team, “We have a policy, the campaign just doesn’t talk about the vice presidential vetting process.”
